The only satisfactions available are the satisfactions of reality, which are themselves frustrating.

About me and my practice

I’m a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I work with couples, adults, older adults, and teens (and their families). I have trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the PPSC Institute in NYC, in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) through NYCEFT, and in Imago Relationship Therapy with IRNA. I am also trained in EMDR (especially effective for trauma) through EMDRIA and weave in this approach with both individuals and couples. How I apply my training depends on what my clients need, how we decide to work together, and what can best provide relief and clarity to each person/couple.

My clients range across many identities and reasons for coming to therapy, but here are the issues that I see most often in my practice and which I’m well-trained to assist with:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Feeling lost or stuck

  • Chronic dissociation and difficulty connecting to body/emotions

  • Perfectionism and persistent self-criticism

  • Creative blocks

  • Low self-esteem

  • Grief and loss

  • Conflict in relationships with loved ones

  • Career and workplace difficulties

  • Blocks to sexual and emotional intimacy

  • Coping with chronic or life-limiting illness (own or loved one’s)

  • Intergenerational trauma and immigrant/1st-generation experience

  • Life transitions such as graduating college, break-up, aging, becoming a parent, or choosing to remain child-free

I have significant experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, older adults and their families (including in a hospice setting), and immigrants/refugees. As a white, queer, immigrant therapist, I endeavor to create a safe and respectful space for BIPOC clients and aim to practice through a social justice lens.

I offer therapy on Zoom and in-person (depending on availability) in downtown Brooklyn. I work in English and Russian.
